Maple Creek - Potaro Activities and Results, July 19, 2009

SUMMARY OF 2007 and 2008 EXPLORATION RESULTS

Pursuant to an agreement with Vannessa Ventures Ltd. (now Infinito Gold Ltd.) initiated in September 2006 and finalized in March 2007, the Company received an option to acquire 100% of Vanarde Mining Inc. and Vannessa Guyana Inc. The assets of Vanarde Mining Inc. and Vannessa Guyana Inc. include, but are not limited to, approximately 40,000 acres of exploration licenses in the Potaro River Area of Guyana. This property includes a previously operated 400 cubic meter per day alluvial diamond production and recovery facility on-site.

During late 2007 and early 2008 the Company undertook systematic soil, panned concentrate, rock and stream sediment sampling over the portions of the project lands which, based on the data available offered a permission combination of shallow or incomplete transported cover, documented gold occurrences, and permissive geology.  Approximately 22% of the property has now been systematically sampled and analyzed for gold. A total of 2,901 samples have been taken consisting of 2,223 soil samples, 278 panned concentrates, 123 rock samples, and 277 stream sediments samples.  Four anomalies were tested during late 2008 by drilling 231 TRADO holes to depths varying from 1 to 6 meters in depth. A total of 252 samples each of soils and panned concentrates were analyzed for gold from the TRADO holes. A TRADO drill is a mechanized auger type of drill that can recover an unmixed sample to depths of up to 20 meters in soils and weathered bedrock.

Note that the materials intersected in the TRADO drillholes were mostly white sand or diluted by admixtures of white sand, and the panned concentrates offer a more useful map of gold targets that the assays of the cuttings.

A limited amount of hand trenching was also undertaken which in every case failed to reach the intended bedrock targets because of surface water and transported sand cover. Seven (7) significant gold anomalies have been identified from the program that merit further investigation. These anomalies are discussed and illustrated in more detail in this report along with reference to geology, topography and geomorphology and airborne magnetic data.

Geological Comments, Target by Target

Pepper Creek – Little Uewang Trend: Major Bedrock Target, Challenging Cover

The Pepper Creek – Little Uewang Trend is a discrete 7km long cluster of anomalous gold responses, best defined by panned concentrate values but also evident in stream sediment and the limited TRADO data available. This feature coincides with a well defined NE trending deeply rooted structure which is evident from published geology and magnetic data. Some of the strongest values coincide with NW trending cross structures (also evident from magnetic data). Evaluation of the area is complicated by the trend of the Potaro River, transported cover and a well developed ferruginous duricrust which contains a mixture of locally derived and transported material. Advancement of this very significant target will require sequenced geophysical surveys, detailed regolith mapping, and a combination of trenching and drilling to test the bedrock geology.

Maple Creek South: Closely Associated with the Pepper Creek – Little Uewang Trend Targets

The Maple Creek South Anomalies are spatially associated with intersecting NE and NW trending structures very similar to the Pepper Creek – Little Uewang Trend. They have a similar sequence of transported and locally derived cover materials and shall be considered in conjunction with that target.

Maple Creek North: Mafic – Ultramafic Gold – PGM Target

The Maple Creek North Anomaly is closely associated with a strong magnetic response which is mapped by the GGMC as an Avanavero Gabbro – Norite intrusive. This intrusive suite is known to be associated with magmatic PGM – gold – chromite prospects in other locations in the Guyana Shield. Sequenced geochemical, geological and geophysical follow – up will consider this model and test for these associated commodities.

Queen of Diamonds SE and SW: Potential Short Term Paleochannel Production Target

The Queen of Diamonds SE and SW anomalies are characterized by erratic, locally high gold values associated with residual lag and the basal gravels of the white sands, presumably derived from the basal sequences of the Roraima Clastics. The bulk soils analyses show the presence of gold values up to 5 grams per tonne in this environment and suggest the presence of a SE trending Paleochannel in the Queen of Diamonds License area. This inferred paleochannel was the site of a surface mining boom on the adjoining licenses at Pamela Landing during the period 2004 to 2007. Systematic test pitting of the SE end of this target may serve to define a significant and viable resource in this paoleochannel.

Queen of Diamonds North: Weakly Defined Omai – Type Target in a Felsic Stock

The Queen of Diamonds North Anomalies are mapped by soil, panned concentrate and weakly corresponding rock sample values associated with an apophysis of fractured granitoid intrusive material. Some quartz veining and stockwork is reported in rubble from this granitoid body. One rock sample from this environment yielded a gold value of 243 parts per billion, and one TRADO drillhole sample showed an assay of 1000 parts per billion across two meters. The work to date has not mapped the limits of this target area or provided reliable samples of bedrock.

Geological Setting of the Maple Creek/ Potaro Properties and proximity to the Omai Mine (northeast corner), Eagle Mountain Gold Prospect (IamGold, published resources of approximately 350,000 ounces in a felsic intrusive host) and Mahdia (north trending alluvial paleochannel, with recorded historical production from small operations on the order of one million ounces.)

 

The North Queen of Diamonds grid hosts an anomalous area approximately 250 meters wide by 600 meters long overlying an intrusive body. The association between the NE linear features and the Pepper Creek, Maple Creek South and Little Uewang anomalies is pronounced. The Maple Creek North Anomaly is clearly associated with a discrete magnetic body. The responses in the South Queen of Diamonds areas are erratic.

Local Geology (GGMC Compilation) and soil sample results plotted to document anomalous areas and also demonstrate the extent of grid coverage. To date, sampling grids only cover about 22% of the 40,000 acre property. Sample Grids were planned to avoid areas of 100% white sand cover (grey tone).  Soil responses are generally very subtle, due in part to the admixture of white sands with the regolith in this area. For reference, the anomalies will be referred to (from west to east) as the Pepper Creek Trend, Maple Creek North, Maple Creek South, Little Uewang South, Queen of diamonds SW, Queen of Diamonds SE, and Queen of Diamonds North.

 
 

Airborne Magnetic Data and soil sample results plotted to document anomalous areas and also demonstrate the extent of grid coverage.  The magnetic data are distorted by merged data sets – the SW portion is a more detailed data set flown by Golden Star in 2005, and the remainder an older regional survey, but the association between the NE linear structures and the Pepper Creek, Maple Creek South and Little Uewang anomalies is pronounced while the Maple Creek North Anomaly is clearly associated with a discrete magnetic body.
